The start of my journey
Who would have thought a routine scan at the mobile breast screening van in Lossiemouth would have led me to the journey I am now on. I was called to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) as the results from the scan needed further investigation. Once there after a mammogram and ultrasound scan Dr Alice (I’ve no idea what her surname is), with the lovely nurse Pam in attendance, announced that I needed some biopsies done. In a slightly higher pitched than normal voice filled with fear…I asked when… she said right now! I was duly suitably positioned and local anaesthetic injection given first to my left breast….I was offered the chance to view the gadget that would collect the tissue samples…and the clicking noise was demonstrated to me….but I declined. Eyes shut …my eyes…the procedure went ahead with Dr Alice keeping me informed and checking I was ok….
